Why Do We Identify with Them?
Emotions are energy in motion (e-motion = energy in motion). They arise as a response to what we perceive as reality. Like waves on the ocean of our consciousness, they come, shift, and eventually fade.
They are our biological response to stimuli—both external (events, situations, people) and internal (thoughts, memories, beliefs). But it’s not the event itself that triggers the emotion; it’s our interpretation of it.
💭 Why Do We Identify with Emotions?
We often believe that emotions define us. We say: “I am sad”, “I am angry”, “I am happy”—as if we were what we feel. But is that really true?
Our emotional reactions are shaped by patterns, beliefs, and past traumas we carry within us.
➡️ Someone ignores us? We may feel sadness or anger. But is the act of ignoring truly hurting us? Or is it our interpretation, shaped by past wounds—perhaps from childhood when we felt unseen?
➡️ We feel fear of change? Maybe it’s not the future that scares us, but our old belief that we are "not capable enough."
Two people can experience the same situation yet feel completely different emotions. Why? Because emotions are not objective—they reflect our inner world.
💡 Can We Stop Identifying with Emotions?
Yes, but not by suppressing or rejecting them. The key is awareness and observation.
✔️ Instead of saying “I am sad” → say: “I feel sadness.”
✔️ Instead of saying “I am angry” → say: “Anger is arising within me.”
➡️ Pause for a moment.
➡️ Notice what you feel—without judgment.
➡️ Sense where the emotion is in your body.
➡️ Don't try to change it; just let it be.
Like a wave in the ocean, an emotion rises, reaches its peak, and then fades away. We don’t have to become it or be controlled by it.
💭 Who Are We Beyond Emotions?
Consciousness that experiences them.
And when we start to see this—we reclaim our freedom. Emotions still arise, but they no longer dictate our lives. Instead of being them, we learn to observe them—with curiosity and ease.
